  • Introduction/Motivation: Standard model of particle physics, key experiments
  • Basic introduction to group theory
  • Klein-Gordon equation and Dirac equation
  • Perturbation theory and processes
  • Introduction to the theory of the strong interaction (Quantum Chromodynamics, QCD): quarks, gluons and the hadronic mass spectrum
  • (Spontaneous) Symmetry breaking in QCD: Goldstone theorem & Pions
  • Phases of QCD (depending on time)
  • Introduction to the weak interaction, and the Higgs mechanism (depending on time)
